A downloadable tool

RetroKit Lite is a free Godot 4 plugin for putting a coherent retro look on your scene without writing shaders.

Add one effect node. Pick a preset. Move a few sliders. That is the whole workflow.

Presets

  • PS1 Horror Lite
  • VHS Tape Lite
  • CRT Arcade Lite

What you get

  • RetroKit editor dock
  • Fullscreen post effect node
  • Core sliders: Retro Strength, Pixel Scale, Color Crush, Scanlines, Noise, Vignette, Chromatic Split
  • 2D and 3D demo scenes
  • Short docs in the download

Install

  1. Unzip so your project has addons/retrokit/
  2. Project Settings → Plugins → enable RetroKit
  3. Open a scene → dock → Add Effect → pick a preset → run

Requires Godot 4.x. No account. No online check.

Lite vs Pro

Lite is the starter pack. RetroKit Pro adds the full preset library (PS1, VHS, CRT, Game Boy, N64, Frutiger Aero, Y2K looks, and more), advanced sliders, custom preset save, Random, copy settings, and an in-world TV screen material.

If you only need three looks to try the idea, Lite is enough. If you are shipping a retro-styled game, look at Pro.
